Summerville’s festive weekend: PJs with Santa, a magical parade, tree voting, artisan finds & why Thai Tacos stole the show!

Happy first week of December!

And also congratulations to you for living in the nation’s #1 hottest suburb! The State’ newspaper recently highlighted Summerville as the nation’s hottest suburb and South Carolina’s #1 blooming suburb. The article, published at the end of last month, showcases why our town is thriving. We know being a blooming suburb comes with its issues (ahem… traffic) but there’s a reason so many people want to move here. It truly is just that great.

‘Tis the season for lots of Summerville holiday fun… and for sickness. Our family was bummed to miss the tree lighting this week due to illness, but we’re hopeful we can still enjoy this upcoming weekend’s activities and festivities. This newsletter includes sections about PJs with Santa on Saturday night in downtown Summerville and the town’s Christmas parade on Sunday.

Some other events going on around town include:

If you missed it, be sure to check out our exclusive Summerville Parent Gift Guide. All gifts are designed to support local, small businesses. TO DO

See the Christmas Trees on The Square

If you enjoyed the Scarecrows on the Square, the Christmas edition begins December 7th! Starting tomorrow through December 22nd, check out the trees set up in Hutchinson Square decorated by a variety of local civic groups and businesses. All the lights and decorations the town put up already make Summerville feel like a scene out of a Hallmark movie, and the extra decorated trees just make it that much more magical.

The top winners in their categories for Scarecrows on the Square included Perkins Restaurant and Bakery, KidsCare at Bethany UMC, Rollings Middle School of the Arts, and JAG Medical Spa. If you saw them, it was clear the participants went all out! It will be exciting to see what amazing designs the contestants have up their sleeves for the trees. You can vote for your favorite tree by paying $0.25 at Guerin’s Pharmacy, Cuppa Manna, Café Simple Treasures, or Wine & Tapas Bar. Funds go toward the School Supply Fund for Dorchester School Districts 2 & 4.

Plus, don’t miss the Junior Service League of Summerville’s PJs with Santa event tomorrow! Families can wear their festive pajamas and enjoy holiday crafts, a snowball station, face painting & tattoos, Christmas stories with Mrs. Claus, and a meeting with Santa. You can purchase your tickets here or purchase them at check-in. Tickets are $10/each and need to be purchased for kids only. Adults do not need to purchase tickets. There will be hot chocolate, hot dogs, and baked goods available for purchase.

Hey Palmetto Parent, Daniel here!

7 months ago I became a runner, lost 40 pounds, stopped drinking alcohol, and now I’m the healthiest I’ve ever been in my life.

I attribute some of my health routine to drinking AG1 (Athletic Greens), a daily supplement with 75 vitamins, minerals, and whole food sourced ingredients. It fills a big gap in a healthy diet if you’re like me and not great at consistently eating your vegetables.

It’s especially advantageous for really busy parents who are always on the go, and helps to manage stress.

When I drink AG1 I feel more energy and less bloat, and I feel a lot more focused during long work days. On days I drink AG1, I sometimes don’t even need to consume coffee (bittersweet tbh because I love coffee).

Here’s feedback from someone I know who tried AG1 based on my recommendation:

It’s not rocket science. You can read all about the ingredients on their site, as well as reviews from nearly 50k people who’ve tried it.

If you’re looking for something to kickstart your health journey, I suggest trying AG1. Low risk, high reward way to make 2025 your best year yet.

The AG1 team gave me a special code for you so if you click the button below you’ll some extra goodies.

PALMETTO PIECE

Give Back with A Reverse Advent Calendar

Summerville Rotary Club member David Powell is asking members of the community to join him in a “Reverse Advent Calendar” where you intentionally fill items in our communities blessing box each day. Even if you can’t place one in the box each day, putting a few things in this month will go a long way. And if your family needs some support and extra groceries, the post contains a list of blessing boxes in Summerville that you can use. Here’s David’s post with all the details.

As we approach Christmas many families and individuals will struggle to have adequate food and hygiene items. An easy way to help those in need is to consider using this reverse Advent Calendar as a guide to collect non-perishable food and fill one of the many Summerville area Blessing Boxes. The Rotary Club of Summerville continues to help maintain the area’s Blessing Boxes through its “Adopt-A-Blessing Box” campaign. Club members are regularly placing non-perishable food and hygiene products in Blessing Boxes throughout the community and would appreciate your help and support in making sure that the Blessing Boxes are a resource for those families and individuals in need. Together we can help to make the Christmas season a little brighter for the less fortunate. Won’t you help us?
